The Southport restaurant getting rave reviews on TripAdvisor that you have to try

A Nepalese restaurant is taking TripAdvisor by storm after wowing customers with its “amazing” and “authentic” food.

The Great Himalayas on Lord Street, Southport, has rave reviews with the restaurant racking up a huge 174 five star reviews out of 182.

It opened next door to the House of Ivy at the start of 2020, but has been hit by lockdowns during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first review, left in March 2020, said: “Wow. Called in as we were passing and was blown away with the quality of the food. Never had Nepalese food before, always liked Indian and my wife likes Chinese food.

“This was somewhere in the middle and we were both more than impressed! Great prices and very friendly people. Will definitely call again!”

And there have been plenty more positive reviews since then, reports the Echo.

Another review on TripAdvisor said: “Great Himalayas serves DELICIOUS FRESH Indian food in Southport. This is the only restaurant in the region which makes authentic Indian food. It reminds me of the food I used to eat back home in Delhi.

“Must try items are Jhhir Kebab, Dal Makhani and Chicken Biryani. The breads are fresh and piping hot from the tandoor esp the Garlic nan. Highly recommended!!.”

A third said: “You simply should visit Great Himalayas if you like Nepalese food, simply the very best. Cooked to perfection with great staff. We will definitely return

The menu features a wide range of dishes, including vegetarian, with many of them being quite spicy!

The bar and restaurant is also a TripAdvisor’s Traveller’s Choice – with people complimenting not just the food, but also the friendly service.

If you don’t fancy eating in The Great Himalayas also offers collection or delivery through JustEat and Deliveroo.

Their website says: “Welcome to Great Himalayas, We offer authentic Nepalese cuisine that’s full of flavour and colour with special ingredients, spices and herbs sourced from Nepal.

“The owners, who are from the Himalayas have acquired the skills of a highly talented Head Chef who cooks using traditional Nepalese techniques that will definitely delight your taste buds.”

Their most recent review said: “We were a group of 8 visiting the restaurant last night and all had fabulous meals. Really tasty food, beautifully cooked. Nothing was too much trouble for the very attentive staff. Thank you to them all for a great night.”
