Piccolino to close Clitheroe restaurant and two others in north west

Piccolino is to shut its only restaurant in Lancashire for good next month.

The Italian restaurant company has announced it will close its eatery in Clitheroe along with three other venues in the UK.

The Clitheroe restaurant, on Moor Lane, has an open kitchen, cocktail bar, terrace and events space – and is popular among locals and visitors.

But Piccolino’s parent company, the Individual Restaurants group, said restaurants in Clitheroe, York, Manchester and Alderley Edge will close permanently on September 5 – with 140 jobs affected, reports the MEN.

Karen Forrester, executive chairperson of Individual Restaurants Company, commented: “The closure of these sites is part of a long-term investment and development plan for the future of Individual Restaurants.

“Our main priority is to keep our people within our Individual Restaurants family by offering opportunities to relocate to other Individual Restaurants’ locations, we will be supporting them throughout this process.”

A period of consultation will now take place at each of the restaurants.
