Lake District’s neighbouring villages that are home to two of the UK’s top 10 Sunday roasts

Two of the Lake Districts restaurants just a few miles from each other have been named as having some of the best Sunday roasts in the country – and one of them is in the top three.

Compiled by @RateGoodRoasts on Instagram, the team of reviewers travel up and down the country feasting on different Sunday Roasts in search of the best.

They’ve reviewed over 100 roasts and this is their fourth Top 10 list which includes some of the Lake District’s very own.

The Black Labrador at Underbarrow, west of Kendal, came in fifth place on this list with an 89% rating with every element of the traditional Sunday roast and the venue is rated out of ten.

Known for its warm service and a building steeped In history the atmosphere of this charming 16th Century Inn provides the perfect setting to experience friendly Cumbrian hospitality.

Another one of the Lake District’s restaurants made it on this list, they came up in third place.

The Wheatsheaf, two miles south of Underbarrow at Brigsteer, claimed the third spot as having the best place in the UK to have a Sunday Roast, and was given an overall rating of 92%.

Known for welcoming visitors to The English Lakes since the 1880s, the inn’s simple formula has not changed much, with great rooms, fresh food and excellent beer, all served with a Lakeland smile.
