A Fleetwood restaurant has hit out at an “influencer” who expected them to give out free food “Willy nilly for likes and attention on social media”.
The five-0 on Lord Street issued a blistering response to the unnamed Instagrammer after they messaged the eatery asking if they’d be interested in a “collaboration” that would “benefit us both”.
It comes after a tough year for the hospitality industry where many businesses have struggled to survive lockdowns, restrictions and closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Staff at The five-0 shared a screenshot of the message on their Facebook page, saying “no influencers round here Mush”.
The message they received said: “Hey guys! Me and my boyfriend are coming up to Blackpool/Fleetwood on Saturday – Wednesday and was wondering if you would be interested in doing a collaboration?
“We’d be happy in doing feed posts and of corse [sic] many stories of your yummy food. We’ve heard many great things about your amazing food (especially your Big Dosser Burger) and would love yo come to some agreement that benefts us both! Look forward to hearing back from you”
However, bosses were less than impressed at the cheeky request, saying they would not be giving out free food – but did say the couple were welcome to dine with them if they booked as any other customer is expected to do.
In response to the message, the restaurant replied to the influencer saying: “Thanks for contact us! We would be delighted to welcome you to our restaurant but we must stress that we would require full payment for our food.. we will not simply give out free food Willy nilly for likes and attention on social media our food speaks for itself, we have been closed for nearly a year and the last thing we would want to do is give our free food to people who can clearly afford it, however if you would like to come and try our food and pay please visit our website to book a table.. no freebies round here Mush”
And if you’re wondering what the big dosser burger is, well, it sounds pretty good to us!
According to the menu, it’s a double burger, with double cheese, bbq rib meat, gyro meat, caramalised red onion chutney and baconnaise.
The menu states it’s in “honour of the Gypsy King Tyson Fury” and it costs £10. Bargain.
The five-0 added: “We are back open to the GENERAL PUBLIC tonight from 5pm! You can book a table online at www.five-0.co.uk
“We will be accepting walk-in’s & you can order for collection or delivery on 01253 274419.
“We have the start of the Euros tonight LIVE from 7pm. Turkey v Italy 20:00
“It’s getting busy for the weekend so book in early if you can, we will take walk-ins when we can. Happy Friday. It’s Coming Home.”
