Cumbrian art group announces spring programme

Allotment Soup: the Isle of Walney
Community Growing Space

A Cumbrian art group has announced a new online programme for spring featuring expert workshops and international speakers.

Art Gene’s programme will focus on food, futures and biodiversity and how artists respond creatively to our environment.

The exhibitions will go live online from April 5.

Art Gene’s long term project Allotment Soup: the Isle of Walney Community Growing Space will kick off with a series of six expert-led ecological design workshops, supported by our partner Oakmere Homes.

Groundwork will take place on the project between April 2 and April 9.

People will learn about and create systems that will use ecological design principles to increase soil quality, biodiversity, grow organically and support the sustainable development of the site for the future.

Ecological design workshops will introduce people to a range of interventions that will promote sustainability, build resilience and encourage biodiversity.

These will take place on five dates between April 10 and June 19.
