Casualty treated by paramedics after electric scooter sparks Pendle house fire

Firefighters were called to a house in Brierfield after an electric scooter went up in flames inside a house.

Three fire engines from Nelson and Burnley were called to the incident on Wood Street at around 12.07pm on Friday (November 20).

The blaze involved an electric scooter inside the property, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel and a ventilation unit.

One casualty was treated by paramedics at the scene for suspected smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were in attendance for around 30 minutes.

A few hours later just before 5pm, fire crews were also called to a house fire on Anyon Street in Darwen.

Crews from Darwen were called after receiving reports of a smoke alarm sounding, and were able to quickly locate the blaze upon arrival.

Firefighters put the fire out using a hose reel, ventilation unit and breathing apparatus.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation and firefighters were in attendance around 20 minutes.
